Biblical Teaching

We are committed to teaching and using the Bible in preaching, pastoring and personal study. The Bible is the authoritative & inspired Word of God that is essential for knowing him and living godly lives (2 Tim 3:16-17, 2 Pet 1:20-21).

Evangelism

We are committed to boldly proclaiming Jesus Christ in word and deed to those in our community who don’t yet know him as Lord & saviour. As the good news of Jesus is proclaimed, God calls people to himself (Matt 28:19; 1 Cor 1:23-24; Col 4:5-6, 1 Pet 3:15-16).

Prayer

We are committed to praying individually and collectively for all things. Prayer is an expression of our dependence on God and our relationship with him as our heavenly Father (Matt 6:9-13; Phil 4:6-7; Eph 6:18; Col 4:2).

Discipleship

We are committed to growing in faith & godliness so that we may better love & serve God and each other. Spiritual growth occurs as we are transformed by his Word & Spirit so that we would submit our whole lives to him and his good purposes (Matt 22:36-40; Rom 12:1-2, Eph 4:11-16).

Unity

We are committed to being united in faith and love despite differences in personality, language, culture or ethnicity. Together we are united in Christ. (John 17:21, 1 Cor 1:10, Eph 4:3-5)

Beverly Hills Anglican Church aims to be contemporary and culturally relevant to our community with the Bible as our foundation. What we believe can be summarised under the slogans of Bible alone, Christ alone, Grace alone and Faith alone.

Bible Alone

We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant & authoritative word of God that is essential for knowing him and living godly lives. Therefore, it’s reliable, and to be preached, believed and obeyed by Christians. It stands above Christian traditions and human reason, and must inform and correct them. (2 Pet 1:21, 2 Sam 22:31, 2 Tim 3:16).

Christ Alone

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who was crucified, died and was raised back to life. It’s this good news (or ‘Gospel’) of Jesus that is powerful to save those who believe. Jesus tells us he is ‘the way, truth and life’ and it’s only through him can we come to the God the Father. He made this possible for us by offering himself as the perfect sacrifice and satisfaction for our sins once and for all. (Acts 2:22-24, Rom 1:16, John 14:6, Heb 10:10-14).

Grace Alone

It is only by grace that we are saved, that is, by God’s generosity and love towards us who do not deserve it. There is no way we can earn or deserve to be right with God by doing good works either before or after we come to faith in Christ. So our right standing before God does not depend on our desire or effort, but only on God’s mercy. (Acts 14:11, Eph 2:8, Rom 3:9-10, Eph 2:8-9, 2 Tim 1:9, Rom 9:16).

Faith Alone

We are made right before God only by faith in Christ who died as the atoning sacrifice for our sin. We are only declared right with God because of faith not because of our good works. While faith alone makes us right before God, faith is not alone, as it produces good work in us. (Rom 3:25, Rom 4:3-5, Eph 2:10, Jas 2:14-26).

The ‘Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion’, which are the doctrinal beliefs of the Anglican Church since 1562, also express these convictions.

The starting principle for our giving is “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor 9:7)

Other biblical principles include:

• Giving sacrificially (2 Cor 8:1-2)
• Giving generously (2 Cor 8:3-7)
• Giving gratefully (2 Cor 8:8-9)
• Giving according to our means (2 Cor 8:10-12)

E-Giving

We recommend Internet banking as the preferred means of giving for our regular members. It is efficient, systematic, regular and a great way to be decisively generous. This is as much an aid to you as our church. Any giving done by electronic banking remains anonymous.

Cash

This 'tried and tested' method is a common way of giving. There are also envelopes available for anonymity and to aid with regular giving.
