About Us
Our Mission
We exist to honour and love God in our community by:
- knowing Christ
- serving Christ; and
- proclaiming Christ
Our Vision
Under God, by 2011 we seek to be a growing and maturing church of over 200 adults committed to following and proclaiming Jesus Christ as we share our lives with each other and our community.
Our Values »
Biblical Teaching
We are committed to teaching and using the Bible in preaching, pastoring and personal study. The Bible is the authoritative & inspired Word of God that is essential for knowing him and living godly lives [2 Tim 3:16-17, 2 Pet 1:21].
Proclaiming Christ
We are committed to boldly proclaiming Jesus Christ in word and deed to those in our community who don’t yet know him as Lord & Saviour. As the good news of Jesus is proclaimed, God calls people to himself [Matt 28:19; 1 Cor 1:23-24; 1 Pet 3:15].
Prayer
We are committed to praying individually and collectively for all things. Prayer is an expression of our dependence on God’s sovereignty and our relationship with him as our heavenly Father [Matt 6:9-13; Phil 4:6; Eph 6:18; Col 4:2].
Spiritual Growth
We are committed to growing in faith & godliness so that we may better love & serve God and each other. Spiritual growth occurs as we are transformed by his Word & Spirit so that we would submit our whole lives to him and his good purposes [Matt 22:36-40; Rom 12:1-2, Eph 4:11-16].
Community Focus
We are committed to loving and serving our community with acts of service, opening up our lives & homes and proclaiming Christ in a way that is culturally relevant. [Acts 2:44-46; Rom 12:13; 1 Cor 9:19-23]
Our Beliefs »
While Church@thepeak aims to be contemporary and culturally relevant to our community, we none-the-less desire to be a biblically faithful church. What we believe is summarised below:
1. God
We believe in the one, holy, and true God, eternally existing in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This tri-une God is the sovereign creator and sustainer of all things and worthy to receive all glory, honour and praise.
2. Jesus Christ
We believe that God has graciously and supremely revealed Himself in the person of the Son, Jesus Christ, who is the eternally begotten Word of the Father, and became truly human. We believe that Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully human in one person and that He truly suffered, was crucified, died, and was buried, as a sacrifice for our guilt and sin. We believe that Jesus was raised from the dead and now sits in Glory at the right hand of the Father, and that He will return to judge everyone.
3. The Holy Spirit
We believe that salvation is secured by Jesus Christ is applied to his people by the Holy Spirit who is sent by the Father and the Son. By the Holy Spirit, believers are renewed, made holy and made members of God’s family by uniting them with Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit indwells, guides, instructs and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service.
4. Humanity
We believe that God created human beings, male and female, in His own image. Humanity was created to act as God’s servants, managing and governing creation in fellowship with Him. We believe that the Bible establishes marriage as the only normative pattern of sexual relations for men and women. In God’s wisdom, men and women are not interchangeable but rather complement each other in mutually enriching ways. We also believe that all humanity, from Adam onwards, has fallen into sin and hence all humanity is corrupt and stands alienated from God, under His righteous judgment. Without God’s gracious intervention, all stand condemned in death.
5. The Gospel
We believe that the good news (or ‘Gospel’) is that although we were dead in our sins and guilt, God freely sent his Son Jesus Christ to die in our place on the cross. It’s this good news of Jesus that is powerful to save those who believe. By His sacrifice, he took the punishment that we deserved, cleansing us from sin and satisfying God’s righteous judgment once for all. We believe that Jesus Christ was truly raised from the dead, breaking the power of death and defeating Satan.
We believe that it is only by grace that we are saved, that is, by God’s generosity and love towards us who do not deserve it. There is no way we can earn or deserve to be right with God by doing good works either before or after we come to faith in Christ. So our right standing before God does not depend on our desire or effort, but only on God’s mercy.
We are made right before God only by faith in Christ who died as the atoning sacrifice for our sin. We are only declared right with God because of faith not because of our good works. While faith alone makes us right before God, faith is not alone, as it produces good work in us.
6. The Bible
We believe that God has inspired all Scriptures (the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments – also known as the Bible) by his Holy Spirit and that the Bible contains all things necessary to salvation. These words alone constitute the inspired Word of God and are utterly authoritative, sufficient and essential for knowing God and living godly lives.
7. The Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Christ is the head. The church exists to faithfully preach the Word of God and administer the sacraments. Although the method or means of preaching may vary in creative fluid, and culturally engaging ways, the content of that message always remains the unchanging Word of God. We are committed to boldly proclaiming Jesus Christ in word and deed to those in our community who don’t yet know him as Lord & saviour. As the good news of Jesus is proclaimed, God calls people to himself.
We believe that Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordained by the Lord Jesus Himself. Both of these sacraments are visible and effectual signs of God’s grace towards us which strengthen our faith in Him. Baptism is a sign of regeneration or new birth pointing to God’s faithful promise forgive our sins and adopt us as his children. The Lord’s Supper is not only a sign of the love between Christian brothers and sisters but primarily points to our redemption in Christ as it proclaims his death for us on the cross and anticipates his return.
We believe that prayer is an expression of our dependence on God and our relationship with him as our heavenly Father and is thus crucial to the life of the church. Therefore we are committed to praying individually and collectively for all things.
We are committed to growing in faith & godliness so that we may better love & serve God and each other. Spiritual growth occurs as we are transformed by his Word & Spirit so that we would submit our whole lives to him and his good purposes.
8. The Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion
We believe that the ‘Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion’, which are the doctrinal beliefs of the Anglican Church since 1562, also express these convictions.
